Guilt Free Dirty Rice

Hey Guys Check out this Dirty Rice recipe I made up for my family last night.

I have been trying to eat healthier and lose weight which is hard to do with a family.  Every time I try to introduce a healthy option I am met with resistance from my family.  It’s not an easy transition from the flavorful not so healthy delicious recipes that have been perfected and handed down for years.  My family is use to that great taste.

So,  when I say I’m going to make one of the recipes healthier I get side looks and resistance.  They are the worst critics, so when I try a healthier option I have to make sure it taste great

Ingredients
Servings: people
Instructions
  1. Place 2 cups of rice in a rice cooker or cook on stove top until done
  2. Open can of black beans and add to a pot with 1/4 onion and seasoning. Cook for 15 min.
  3. In a Large frying pan place 1tsp olive oil and ground turkey. Season ground turkey with Cajun seasoning and Cook turkey until brown.
  4. Add Remainder of Onion and 1 can of mild Rotel tomatoes and cook down about 5-10min. or until tomatoes start to breakup.
  5. Add one cup of cook rice to Browned Turkey and mix. Next, add Cooked Black beans to Turkey and Rice mixture and mix well.
  6. Season to taste and Serve!
Recipe Notes

****To make this dish more healthy try with quinoa instead of rice****

****Cajun Seasonings: Sea Salt, cayenne, black pepper,  garlic powder****

****try substituting white rice with quinoa or brown rice****
