Hello everyone. I have been gone for a while, but I could not stay away too long and this Smollet story was the perfect time to return.
Now, if you haven’t heard, Jussie Smollet was indicted on 16 felony counts of filing a false police report.
Jussie Smollett was attacked by two unidentified men, on January 29th, who he says yelled racial slurs and hung a noose around his neck as they physically attacked him. Smollett laid out the details in a interview with Robin Roberts and we were all appalled by the actions of these two men.
Later, after further investigation by the Chicago police, Smollett was accused of paying two men to attack him and fake the whole incident. After word of this got out Smollett was ridiculed, made fun of, and shamed by the black community and villainized by the white community. Simply put, we all attacked him and wrote him off for shame.
Well, today March 23rd, all charges against Jussie Smollett have been drop. I will say it again, All charges have been dropped?
Now, I must say this is a huge turn of events. What does this mean? Well, I’ll tell you what it looks like. It looks like Chicago PD has done it again. They do not have the greatest track record when it comes to policing and it looks like they accused a man of a crime that they had no evidence of. Unfortunately, this is not new to Chicago PD.
Now, I’m not saying that Jessie Smollett is innocent or guilty, but it does look like the Chicago PD is guilty of not following correct procedure when it comes to this case. What ever happen to innocent until proven guilty?
The information that was put out by Chicago PD made us all believe that Smollett was indeed guilty. We all convicted Smollett based off of the court of public opinion. An opinion fueled by information that the Chicago police department and the media fed to us.
All I have to say is this. I will NEVER jump on the bandwagon when it comes to things like this again. I am ashamed of the fact that I jumped on the wagon and went along for the ride. This type of thing happens all the time. Bits and pieces of details get distorted and turned and made into something that it is not. Then, we feed right into it and pass judgement.
What do you Think?
It will be interesting to see if all of the celebrities who publicly ridiculed and made fun of Smollet will actually apologize. It will be even more interesting to see if FOX news will cover this new information being that they spent so much time calling him guilty.
Look, I’m not pointing fingers because I did the same thing, but I have learned my lesson. Have you?
Think about it.
But, in the meantime, be blessed and do everything in your power to make life sweet!
